The SLSA is responsible for the training of all firearm applicants under the Firearms Act of Saint Lucia No. 9 of 2003.

The Provisional License Training is covered over five (5) classroom sessions and a practical range exercise which covers both practice and certification exercises.

  • The classroom modules covered in this training are:

  • Principles of Marksmanship
  • Range Procedure, Selecting & Cleaning a Pistol

The range exercise consists of firing strings of five (5) rounds from 3, 5 & 7 metre distances from the benchrest and standing positions. The exercises focus on reinforcing the material covered during the lectures.

The final certification requires the student to score 10 hits from a possible 15 hits on their target by firing 5 rounds from each of 3, 5 and 7 metres. The students are also graded on their safe handling of the firearms.
