This
course is a standard set by the International Practical
Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and is required for
participation at IPSC matches.
Class Room
There is a rules manual that has to be studied and then
that knowledge applied in a multiple choice exam. These
rules can be found and downloaded from the IPSC website
at www.ipsc.org. In
addition there are several members that are IPSC
qualified who can assist members in getting through the
rules and the exam.
Range work
You will need to complete a 15 stage course meeting the
minimum standards set. This exercise is shot in one day.
All of the stages in this exercise must have all shots
on the target, with at least 50% A-zone hits in order to
advance to the next level. The exercises teaches the
shooter to combine the three practical shooting elements
that is speed, accuracy and power. Before attempting the
practical you should be able to shoot quickly, engage
multiple targets, draw and fire and perform magazine
reloads. This is a tough but achievable practical. One
thing: this must be done with a pistol of at least 9mm
caliber.
